San Diego Beer Drinkers

This past Saturday Pizza Port Carlsbad held the 1st annual Brewbies Fest. As the name implies it was a fund raiser for breast cancer. It was a beautiful sunny San Diego day by the beach, a perfect day for drinking beer (ok, there really isn't a bad day for drinking beer).

I was there when the doors opened and realized right away that this wasn't going to be a "normal" brew fest. I would guess that usually the guy to girl ratio is somewhere in the 4 or 5 to 1 on the guys side. But at the start of this fest there were obviously more ladies than there were guys. Of course this does make some sense considering it was a Brewbies fest. Later when the event was full things evened out more and I'd say there was more of a 50/50 mix of guys and girls.

The thing I found interesting about this fest over all the others I've been to is the vibe, it was much more casual. There were families at this fest, parents sharing tastes with there kids and friends. There was a real nice cross section of beers to taste and share. The reaction a young man had when his father gave him a taste of Lost Abbey's Double Red Poppy was priceless. I wish I had video running, lets just say he's usually a Corona drinker, you can image his reaction.

Overall I have to say this was one of the more enjoyable brew fests I've been too. I look forward to the 2nd annual Brewbies fest.
